SUPPLEMENTARY PRODUCTS AGAINST HAIR LOSS
1 ) FINASTERIDE
PROPERTIES OF FINASTERIDE
Finasteride is the most common active substance used worldwide against hair loss, it is one of 2 medications approved for the treatment of hair loss by the USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is sold as tablets taken orally.
Regular 1-year use of finasteride is shown to result in hair regrowth in 50% of men, and 2-year use is shown to result in 66% of men.
Generally, 85% of men regularly using finasteride, are observed to not experience more hair loss and their existing hair is observed to be preserved during the treatment.
Most observed side effects of finasteride are reported as decrease in sexual desire or decrease in the sperm count in 2% of men using the medication.
What Is Finasteride Used For?
Primary goal of finasteride to end hair loss and preserve remaining hair.
In clinical trials, it is reported to regrow hair in more than 60% of the subjects but only 42% of them had visible increase.
Finasteride is commonly being used by younger males who want to stop the hair loss, and answers the purpose.
It is also used commonly by men suffering from severe hair loss as a part of complementary treatment together with 2% and 5% Minoxidil.
How Does Finasteride Exert Its Effect on Hair Loss?
Testosterone hormone in the veins of a typical adult male, normally conjugates with an enzyme called alpha-5 reductase. As a result of this interaction between testosterone and alpha-5 reductase, a more potent male hormone known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is created.
DHT binds to DHT receptors in certain hair follicles, and behaves against these hair follicles as foreign matters and attacks them.
This chemical change not only effect hair but may also cause oily-skin, itching and redness on the scalp. Meantime, the hair follicle under the attack of DHT begins to shrink and produce unhealthy hair in years.
When Finasteride is used, it acts to block the DHT production in the system. After a few months, general circulating DHT levels are restricted, and the harmful effect of DHT on hair follicles ends and this stops the hair loss.

2) MINOXIDIL
Minoxidil is the first approved medication for preventing hair loss by FDA. It is a lotion type medication to be applied by massaging the scalp. 2% forms are effective in women, and 5% forms are in men. First purpose of use is for controlling blood pressure. When it is taken orally, it may have serious side effects on circulation system and heart. When it was observed that a serious level of hairing is seen among the users of the medication, this side effect is thought to be effective in scalp with hair loss problem. Indeed, a moderate increase in scalp hairing is observed in conducted trials.
Maximum effect of minoxidil use is seen between 6 months and 2 years. Its effect slowly decreases after this time. In continuous using, hair loss slows down, and it is effective in hair losses especially in vertex area and also in frontal and side sections.
The action mechanism of minoxidil is thought to extend the growth phase, i.e. anagen phase of the hair and thus increase the thicknesses and lengths of the hair strands. It should be applied to the scalp by massaging twice a day. It will only exert its effect on the contact area, thus the administration areas should be determined under doctor control. If there is thinning, it should also be used on frontal sections, not only on vertex. Continuous use is recommended. Because 3 month after stopping the medication, the hair will return to its previous condition and then the lost hair can not be regained even though minoxidil is initiated again.
Using minoxidil in combination with finasteride exerts a synergistic effect and hair loss is blocked more strongly. General recommendation is also the use of these two FDA approved medications in combination.

3) BIOTIN
Benefits of Biotin
Vitamins mediate many metabolic activities in the body.
Biotin is a water soluble B-Complex vitamin with chemical formula C10H16N2O3S. Also produced by the bacteria in the colon, biotin is an important vitamin necessary for a healthy life.
Since it can also be produced by the bacteria in colon, no severe deficiency is seen but slight deficiencies appear before us as hair and nail problems. On the other hand taking biotin without having any problems, provides quality increase in hair and nails.
Biotin is a coenzyme in lipid, protein and carbohydrate metabolisms. It also contributes cell development and helps to keep blood glucose at an average level. As with other vitamins, biotin is a necessary substance for many organ, tissue and body functions.
Biotin taken 5 mg daily extends hair cycle, and increase the resistance to damage caused by DHT and reduces hair loss.
Everyone who undergoes hair transplantation must start to use biotin, by this shock hair loss reduces and quality of the growing hair increases, addition to these, it makes the fuzzy hair on this area increase in width, so they look fuller and the total response taken from the hair transplantation becomes better.
Benefits on hair
*Reduces hair loss (nourishes the follicles and increase the resistance to hair loss reasons)
*Increases hair quality.
*Increase the growth rate of the hair by 30-50%.
*Repairs the splitting and bifurcation problem in the hair.
*Increases the resistance of hair to natural harmful factors (sunlight, pool water, hot, cold etc.)
*Delays trichopoliosis
*Provides shiny hair, it can be achieved with pills, or shampoo containing biotin.
*Repairs seborrhea in the scalp and reduces hair loss due to seborrhea
